Sara Wright

July 16, 1935 — July 14, 2021

Sara Randolph Farish Wright, age 85, died peacefully at home on July 14, 2021. She was born on July 16, 1935 in Bedford IN, to the late William A. Farish and Mary Williams Farish Hill. Sara was a graduate of Union City West Side, Union City, IN and attended Indiana University. She was married for 67 years to the late C. Daniel Wright. She is survived by her 3 children, Catherine Wright (Debra Corning) of Old Lyme CT, Dana Baker (Jeff) of Eaton OH, and Stuart Wright (Janet) of Muncie IN. Sara is also survived by her 5 grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Nannie”: JD (Kathryn) Baker of Glen Ellyn IL, Paul Randolph (Lauren) Baker of Lake Forest IL, Derrick Wright of Phoenix AZ, Sara Catherine Wright of Los Angeles CA, and Kayleigh Wright of Muncie IN; great grandchildren: Tessa and Vivianne Baker of Glen Ellyn, IL; her sister-in-law Marlene Wright Livingston; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister Suzanne Farish Chambers Hobbs and stepfather Dr. Paul G. Hill. Nannie and Big Pa shared their home with the many many friends of Union City, IN and Eaton, OH. They hosted many happy hours full of great memories and laughter. They were host to the many young friends of JD and Paul’s growing up who fondly still refer to them as Nannie and Pa. It was often to find young friends stopping to see them or going on family vacations. Nannie was known for her great food and entertaining, her fried chicken was just one that was often requested! Nannie’s great passion was needlepointing which she did all of her adult life including her final year, fishing which she loved teaching all her grandkids, and playing gin. Special thanks to her caregivers, Tammy Maiolo, Dr. Allen Ferguson and most recently the nurses at Bellacare Hospice. A private service will be held at a later date. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Preble County, P.O. Box 72, Eaton, OH 45320 or Mitchell College in support of a gift in honor of the Wright Family, 437 Pequot Ave. New London, CT 06320.
