Obituary for Ralph Edison Kramer

Ralph Edison Kramer, age 78, of Eaton, OH passed away suddenly Monday, December 13, 2010. He was born June 11, 1932 in Eaton, OH to the late Horace W. and Iva (Pence) Kramer. Ralph was born and grew up on the family farm in Preble County, graduating from Eaton High School in 1950. He remained at home working on the family farm until going to college at the age of 32. During college, he worked for O.D.O.T. and he graduated from Morehead State University in 1968 - and has remained a member of the Alumni Association. He also attended the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. After college, Ralph spent the next 26 years teaching sixth grade at the West Utica Elementary, Utica, MI where he received numerous awards, including teacher of the year and was featured on the television show, Nickelodeon being "green slimed" by his students". Ralph’s tenure in Michigan resulted in a second family for him, creating many close and life long friends, who to this day consider him family, and invite him to West Utica Teacher Reunions. Following retirement, Ralph moved back to Eaton where he worked several years with the setup crew for his brother’s company, Kramer & Kramer Auctioneers. Ralph truly enjoyed people, loved his family and cherished teaching children. Ralph was blessed with a skill and talent with floral arranging, artfully decorating the wagons the family used as a buffet table for gatherings and reunions, as well as helping decorate for his family weddings. He adored the Eaton Place waitresses, casino socializing, golf and mushroom hunting; and his entertaining and fun natured rivalry with the UM & OSU football game is an invaluable memory. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Kramer; brothers-in-law Jack Line, Paul Gatzek and Ray Volkerding; and sister-in-law Jean Ernsberger Kramer (whom was married to Willard Kramer). He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Willard J. and Wanda Kramer, Horace J. and Marian (Ewing) Kramer and Wallace S. and Sharon (Oldfather) Kramer; sisters and brothers-in-law Marian Volkerding, Anna May and James A. Eyler, Nancy Line, Rosalie and Jay B. Unger and Carolyn Gatzek; special friend and neighbor Dean Keller; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
