Obituary for Ellis G. Sheets

Ellis G. Sheets, 96, died at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio, on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He was born on May 14, 1920 in Union County, Indiana to John and Retta(Pentecost) Sheets. He graduated from College Corner High School in 1939. He married Betty Ardery on Feb. 21, 1942. Ellis was a retired farmer, had worked at Ralston Purina, Richmond, IN, Geeting Auto Company, West Manchester, OH and owned and operated an agricultural lime truck. He also served on the Monroe Township and C.R. Coblentz Consolidated School Boards. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Richmond, IN and Preble County, Ohio Historical Society. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Miley Sheets and four sisters, Ruth Doty, Inez Liming, Mary Cheek, and Oda Black. He is survived by his wife, Betty, three sons, David (Mary Jane Shaeffer) Sheets, Richmond, IN, Michael (Wilma Shaeffer) Sheets, Tipp City, OH, and Philip (Pam Nussbaum) Sheets, Wabash, IN.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in College Corner Cemetery, Union County, Indiana. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond, IN 47374; Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund, 750 Chestnut Street, Greenville, OH 45331; or State of the Heart Care Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.
