Obituary for Earl Newland

Earl Newland, age 66, of New Paris, OH passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at Reid Hospital, Richmond, IN. He was born March 19, 1945 in Hindman, KY to the late Bill and Grace Newland. Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran who served as a M.P. during the Vietnam War; he retired from General Motors; he coached little league and pee-wee football for many years while his children were growing up; he loved fishing and all types of sports but especially football; was an artist; and dearly loved all of his dogs he had throughout his life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth, Nell, Leck, Betty and Skeet; and brothers Jack and Curt. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet Newland of New Paris, OH; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Lisa Newland of Richmond, IN; daughter and son-in-law Diana and Jason Warren of Richmond, IN; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Wendell Johnson of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Hannah, Talon, Jake, Rider, Willow and Ellie; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Fredona Newland of Richmond, IN and Boone and Opal Newland of Hamilton, OH; good friend Larry Young of Richmond, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. In lieu of any memorial contributions, Earl’s family ask that each person simply does an act of kindness in his memory.
