Obituary for Earl L. Price

Earl L. Price, 78, of Eaton died September 28th at Reid Hospital following a brief illness. Earl was born near Eaton, Ohio to the late Dale and Marie Price. He was a 1951 graduate of Jackson High School in Campbellstown, Ohio and a lifelong farmer of Jackson and Jefferson Township in Preble County. He was an elected Supervisor of the Preble County Soil and Water Conservation District for several terms, and a member of the Preble County Farm Bureau. Earl was a 63 year member of the New Hope United Methodist Church where he served as church trustee and director of the youth fellowship club. Earl was a long-time volunteer with the Preble County Pork Festival and was also a volunteer and assisted area farmers at a time of crisis and when they were in need. Earl was a proud US Army veteran. He was a member of the Tropic Lightning 25th Infantry Signal Company and was one of the original founders and establishers of the Schofield Base in Hawaii. Earl was an honored sharpshooter and a lineman/electrician with his infantry. He was responsible for running electrical ground lines and wiring Schofield Base for electricity. After his retirement from farming, Earl enjoyed wintering in Florida where he was a skilled woodcraftsman and known for his hand crafted furniture and wooden ornaments. Earl is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Veda Price-Grimme; an aunt and uncle, Reverend Heber and Glenna O’Hara of Berea, Ohio; and cousins, John O’Hara of Alexandria, VA and Mary Anna Way of Marysville, Ohio. Earl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Boomershine- Price whom he lovingly married June 2, 1957. He is also survived by 4 children; Debbie (Dean) Kreitzer and Carolyn Bachman of Eaton, Douglas (Rhonda) Price of New Paris, and Susan (Mark) Mancuso of Brookville, Ohio. He also leaves to cherish his memory 6 grandchildren; Jennifer Kreitzer, Brian Kreitzer, and Kyle Bachman of Eaton; Kristen Bachman of Oxford, Ohio, Emily Price of New Paris, and Amanda Mancuso of Brookville, Ohio. Earl also leaves a brother, Curt (Diana) Price of Eaton, several distant cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Funeral services for Earl L. Price will be Monday, October 3rd at 2 PM at the New Hope United Methodist Church, 3330 Upshur Northern Road in Eaton. Friends will be received on Sunday, October 2nd from 2 to 4 PM at Girton Schmidt and Boucher Gard Funeral Home in Eaton, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, Ohio with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Trustees.
